OUR RESEARCH

We are tackling major challenges here in the UK and across the world.

A lively research community

Here is just some of the great work we are doing to improve people’s lives.

Fighting crime with super-recognisers

A psychology test developed at the university is a gateway to a battery of tests that identify super-recognisers, people with an exceptional ability to recognise faces. Super-recognisers have proved invaluable for police and security forces in several countries.

Are you a super-recogniser?

Take the test

Did you know?

Andy Pope from West Midlands Police is probably the most successful super-recogniser in the world, after identifying almost 2,500 suspects

A green solution for carbon waste

University of Greenwich spin-out company Carbon8 Systems is helping to combat climate change through its carbon dioxide mineralisation technology that transforms industrial residues into low-carbon construction products.

Did you know?

The Carbon8 mobile carbonation plant captures as much carbon dioxide in a year as is emitted when driving 20 million kilometres by car.

A cure for the social media infodemic

The university is leading the consortium that has created EUNOMIA, the first social media platform that helps users check the trustworthiness of information shared through it.

Did you know?

Lies spread faster than the truth on social media. Research into Twitter posts found that untruthful tweets spread six times faster than truthful ones and were 70% more likely to be retweeted.
