Our research

We are tackling major challenges here in the UK and across the world.

A lively research community

Research plays a vital role at the university, and we have doubled the number of staff with significant responsibility for research in recent years. We performed very well in the Research Excellence Framework (REF) results in 2021, climbing 25 places since the last REF in 2014. Here is just some of the work we are doing to improve people’s lives.
