Crowdfunding at Greenwich
Crowdfunding at Greenwich relies on large numbers of donors coming together to support a wide range of projects to impact the lives of students, staff, and the wider community. With campaigns ranging from £200 to £2,000, it has become a driving force behind contributing to the university's overall mission to invest in our students and empower them to make a difference, locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.
Success depends on leveraging networks and communities to make donations and spread the word. Each individual gift, no matter how small, plays a role in helping students and staff achieve their goals.
Crowdfunding offers an innovative way to finance projects that brings us closer to the university’s strategic goals and enhance the student experience. Additionally, it is an excellent way for students to develop skills, from marketing to project management and professional networking.
What sets crowdfunding at Greenwich apart is its innovative and inclusive approach to financing projects. It represents a forward-thinking, community-driven model for financing projects and achieving strategic goals. By providing an alternative source of funding, it empowers students and staff to turn their ideas into reality, ultimately benefiting the entire university community.
As the university continues to embrace this innovative approach, it not only advances its mission but also fosters a culture of collaboration, skill development, and student empowerment that benefits the entire institution.

Greenwich Refugee Student Bursary
Refugees face many challenges when arriving in the UK, with financial hardships being just one of many struggles they face. For refugee students, studying in London, one of the world’s most expensive cities represents an even greater challenge. The rising cost of living make it exceedingly difficult for these students to purchase basic necessities such as accommodation, food and transportation.
After a 2-month crowdfunding campaign initiated by the University of Greenwich to support refugee students, the alumni community has helped to raise £1,240. The campaign which has been driven by the university’s commitment to inclusivity and equal opportunities has received significant support from individuals who share the belief of an education without boundaries.
The university firmly believes that education serves as a catalyst for positive change, regardless of a student’s background, everyone should be encouraged to reach their full potential.

Bee Sustainable
Earlier this year, the University of Greenwich announced a student crowdfunding campaign for Bee Sustainable, a project that aims to change the lives of bees who are crucial to our planet and help the next generation with understanding the importance bees have on our population.
After incredible generosity from Greenwich alumni and other supporters, we raised an amazing £582! The donations will allow the students to create a second garden and a suite of educational resources for children to learn about preserving the declining wild bee populations in London.
Bee Sustainable now have even bigger plans for the future – and this is all thanks to our community of supporters.
