Celebrating Snapshots
Every graduate carries a story, and the Greenwich community is full of them. Through Greenwich Snapshots, alumni share short reflections on their time at the university. These include the moments that challenged them, the experiences that shaped them, and how their studies helped set them in their professional ambitions and personal growth.

The University of Greenwich has relaunched Greenwich Snapshots, celebrating the journeys and achievements of alumni and showcasing the many paths graduates take after their studies.
As part of the relaunch, the university is introducing SnapSTARs, a group of alumni whose stories stood out through their Snapshot submissions. These graduates were invited to take part in extended interviews and a photoshoot on campus, creating profiles that explore both their time at Greenwich and the careers they have built since graduating.
The first group of SnapSTARs represents a wide range of industries including film, law, healthcare, marketing, technology and research. Their paths are different, but the thread connecting them is the same- a Greenwich education that gave them something to build on.
Meet the photographer
Jodi Thom
Freelance Photographer and Videographer BA Hons Film and Television Production, 2021
Jodi threw herself into life at Greenwich, joining societies, working on campus and making the most of every creative opportunity her course offered. From producing her graduate film to building hands-on experience with industry-standard equipment, her time at university gave her the technical foundation and confidence to step into the creative industries.
She has since built a freelance career as a videographer, photographer and video editor, working with a wide range of clients and contributing to projects alongside public figures and local organisations. She is currently writing her first feature film script, with the aim of completing it by 2027.
“When it came to choosing a university, I was looking for more than just a strong course. I wanted to be close to real opportunities in the film industry while studying somewhere that felt inspiring and supportive.”
Behind the scenes
Returning to Greenwich for this project was a nostalgic experience for Jodi, bringing into focus how much she still draws on the skills and confidence developed during her degree. Connecting with fellow alumni and hearing about their journeys was a highlight, a reminder of how many different paths can grow from the same starting point.
“Being part of this project means a lot to me. It is not often you get the chance to step back and see how far you have come, and to recognise the role your university played in that journey.”
Reconnecting with established snapshots
Staying connected with alumni matters because those journeys do not stop. Careers evolve, perspectives deepen, and the impact of a Greenwich education continues to unfold in ways that are worth following. By maintaining these relationships, the university can celebrate what its graduates go on to achieve, learn from their experiences, and ensure that the connection between student and institution remains a source of support and inspiration on both sides.
